Dahal Seeks Raswpa Support to Survive, Ministers Postpone Resignation

Dahal Seeks Raswpa Support: In a significant development in Nepalese politics, the ministers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (Raswpa) have postponed their planned resignation, opting to wait for the upcoming vote of confidence. This decision underscores the crucial role Raswpa plays in the current political landscape, as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal actively seeks their support to secure his position. As the country braces for the vote, the strategic maneuvers of both the Prime Minister and Raswpa are expected to be pivotal in determining the future direction of Nepal's governance.

Prime Minister seeks Raswpa’s cooperation

Nepal’s political landscape has taken an interesting turn. The Rashtriya Swatantra Party’s (Raswpa) ministers, who were expected to resign after the CPN-UML (UML) withdrew its support from the government, did not submit their resignations following a meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The Raswpa ministers visited the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Thursday morning, prepared to resign in the wake of the UML’s withdrawal of support. However, Prime Minister Dahal requested their cooperation in the process of seeking a vote of confidence.

Raswpa postpones resignations and urges action

In response to the Prime Minister’s request, Raswpa postponed the ministers’ resignations. Santosh Pariyar, the chief whip of Raswpa, informed Ekantipur that they withheld the resignations after the Prime Minister expressed his intention to seek a vote of confidence. Raswpa also urged the Prime Minister to expedite the process of seeking a vote of confidence.

Possible outcomes

This development presents several possibilities. Prime Minister Dahal can propose a vote of confidence in parliament at anytime. Raswpa must decide whether to vote for or against the confidence motion. If Dahal fails to secure a vote of confidence, the government will collapse.

Crucial days ahead

The coming days will be crucial in determining the fate of the government. Raswpa’s decision on the vote of confidence will be a significant factor.
