The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has recommended 7,954 teachers for vacant third-grade positions in primary schools across Nepal. This falls short of the 8,113 posts originally advertised by the commission on Chaitra 9th, 2079. The commission attributed the shortfall to a lack of qualified candidates meeting the requirements in each province. Here’s a breakdown by province:
- Koshi: Recommended – 1,377, Vacancies – 366
- Madhesh: Recommended – 1,045, Vacancies – 116
- Bagmati: Recommended – 1,077, Vacancies – 331

A total of 100,749 applications were received for the advertised positions. After a preliminary screening, 100,344 candidates participated in a written exam conducted on May 20th, 2024. Based on these results, 16,702 candidates qualified for a subject-specific written exam.
The commission noted that the unfilled vacancies will be included in future advertisements. The Education and Human Resource Development Center has forwarded the recommended candidates’ details to the relevant Education Development and Coordination Units for local-level selection procedures.
