Teachers Service Commission [TSC] Recommends Nearly 8,000 for Primary Level Third Grade Positions

The Teachers Service Commission recommends 7,954 candidates for primary school positions in Nepal, falling short of the 8,113 advertised posts. Shortage of qualified applicants is noted across provinces. Out of 100,749 applicants, 16,702 qualify for further exams. Unfilled positions will be included in future ads. Local-level selection procedures are underway.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has recommended 7,954 teachers for vacant third-grade positions in primary schools across Nepal. This falls short of the 8,113 posts originally advertised by the commission on Chaitra 9th, 2079. The commission attributed the shortfall to a lack of qualified candidates meeting the requirements in each province. Here’s a breakdown by province:

  • Koshi: Recommended – 1,377, Vacancies – 366
  • Madhesh: Recommended – 1,045, Vacancies – 116
  • Bagmati: Recommended – 1,077, Vacancies – 331
  • Gandaki: Recommended – 1,406, Vacancies – 131
  • Lumbini: Recommended – 957, Vacancies – 29
  • Karnali: Recommended – 558 (including 10 ranked appointments), Vacancies – 10
  • Sudurpaschim: Recommended – 486, Vacancies – 28

A total of 100,749 applications were received for the advertised positions. After a preliminary screening, 100,344 candidates participated in a written exam conducted on May 20th, 2024. Based on these results, 16,702 candidates qualified for a subject-specific written exam.

The commission noted that the unfilled vacancies will be included in future advertisements. The Education and Human Resource Development Center has forwarded the recommended candidates’ details to the relevant Education Development and Coordination Units for local-level selection procedures.
